262 is an atmospheric composition. It maintains the 262nd day of the year in which the composer left his country and entered Vienna. The piece unfolds in reverse, with layers of reverberation and sound gradually building toward the main melody , which is only fully revealed in the nal bars. It uses Morse code patterns subtly spelling out “I miss you, ” weaving a hidden message of longing into the music. A piano stands open but unplayed, acting as a resonant body for the wind instruments. So if it was mentioned, the player should stand up and play into the piano. The result is an ambient, immersive soundscape that echoes with memory and distance.
