5 is a five-minute work for piano and live electronics in which the number five shapes every level of the composition. Fifths, five-note chords, clusters, rhythmic patterns, and formal structures form its musical core, while references to the five senses and five fingers connect the work to the human body. The electronics act as an active counterpart to the piano, extending and transforming its sound in real time. Together with amplified piano techniques, the work creates a compact, multidimensional exploration of structure, embodiment, and sound.
